Theatre of the Last Breath

Theatre of the Last Breath: about the show

Friends, we are gathered here today to celebrate the life of… YOU.

Welcome to a bold, immersive journey into your own imagined funeral. A thoughtful, tender, funny and quietly transformative contemplation of what makes you feel most alive.

From ashes and embalming, to cardboard boxes and eco burials, this is not a performance to watch from afar, but an intimate and relevant inquiry into your own mortality because any day could be the last.

We invite you to join us for some light refreshments after the show where we can share stories and continue to celebrate the life of… YOU.

Audience reviews:

"A reminder to invest in living more."

"Thought provoking, funny, sad, tragic - life and death, but I really enjoyed it! I was fully engaged and the music was a great addition." - SF

"The show was touching. It made me stop and think, reflect and consider. We don’t do death in Australia or western culture well and this could be transformative for some."

"Beautiful and heartfelt. I didn’t expect to shed tears. I specially loved singing around the coffin with everyone." - JW

"The audience participation was powerful."

"Super thought-provoking and entirely original but still really engaging and entertaining. It made me think about what’s really important to me ie. turning down the white noise of the daily grind."

"Loved the music, the songs, the participation, and the eulogy inspiration." - GH

"The opportunity to imagine my own death and funeral in a safe space was really wonderful. Thank you!" - JS

"A great balance of emotion and humour." - MN

"A moving, heartwarming and diverse experience. I laughed and cried with moments of deep reflection." - EC
