Painting Melody
Painting Melody: about the show
Through music that tumbles imagery into mind and heart, and intimate, hand-drawn stories, Painting Melody invites you to a luminous place of colour and imagination. Join award-winning songwriter and performing artist, Mira Chorik as she blends the worlds of art and music, smudging the lines separating art and life.
In local galleries, an art guide, an artist, and a songwriter take you on a tour of slow looking to enter the world of painting and the tradition of ekphrastic poetry where dabs of inspiration are thrown with wild abandon… there's life-changing experiences before gold-framed portraits in Rome… transcendence splattered on canvas… art appreciation brushed and scraped into interesting shapes… and pictures that start a movement.
For artists and would-be artists of all kinds, seasoned gallery-goers, and those who’ve never before stepped through the doors of an art museum, Painting Melody celebrates sensory knowing and the pleasure of seeing through your own eyes.

Reviews
In the same manner that a viewer is asked to interpret a creative work, Mira Chorik invites the audience into her exhibition that is a dynamic reverie on the interplay of music and painting. Soulful vocals and soft acoustics create a sepia-tone canvas that is at once a performance, a curation, and a lyrical composition. - Patricia Higgins

I felt moved by the experience. The rawness and vulnerability shown by the artist touched my heart. I loved it all but the audience participation really topped it off! - JS
Original. Fascinating. - TN
Deep and meaningful. Rich and beautiful. - RC
I felt inspired and contemplated my own relationship with art, life and impermanence. - Anon
I gained more of an appreciation for artist's journey and the expression of their experience. Mira's work is powerful, raw and expressive. My favourite part was the interaction at the end. - TE
Great concept and music! Thought-provoking, connecting and inspiring. - LD
