Song Secrets: a songmakers circle

On Sunday 1st October at Eudlo on the Sunshine Coast, I'm thrilled to be facilitating a Song Makers Circle as part of a taster event for a new boutique music festival called Long Listen. Excited! There's First Nation artists... conversations on culture and dadirri... didgerdoo and art making... Bach for Breakfast... live pot throwing with improvised cello... an international harpist... grammy award winning musician... a classical guitarist... composers... and a children's concert! I'm honoured to be presenting in such fine company.

Song Secrets | A Song Makers Circle

Song Secrets weaves a song maker's circle and live stage performance into one. Relaxed and accessible for audience and songwriters alike, it will deepen your personal story of song. Join us to explore practical prompts to open new ways of listening and making songs. Explore what gives a song form and structure, how to tell your story, write lyrics and how to generate musical ideas.

Experience Song Secrets to unpack the art of songwriting and deep listening in conversation and creative experimentation with master singer-songwriter, and multi-disciplinary artist, Mira Chorik. Hear young emerging First Nation's artist Layla Barnett on stage performing songs from her debut EP ‘Beneath the Surface’ with Mira, performing songs from her life’s catalogue.

Song Secrets: a song makers circle connects curious audiences to songwriters and the power of song. It's suitable for listeners, participants and songwriters of every level.

More about Long Listen...

Long Listen is a new punchy festival program of short music experiences under the artistic direction of accomplished cellist and teacher, Louise King. Think classics with a twist.

On Friday 29 September to Monday 2 October 2023 she is launching Long Listen in her community at Eudlo Hall. You can book tickets to experience a Long Listen teaser of short listening sessions featuring guest artists and conversations.

Long Listen broadens our arts ecology, by providing an inclusive audience experience. At its heart is the power of music.

Long Listen is an artist-driven, musician-led new annual boutique festival that presents the broad sweep of classical crossover artists in community places. Think a mashup of originals, world, folk and jazz artists, or singer-songwriters with string quartet.

Long Listen provides a space for audiences to explore, share and discover music and for our artists, a platform to experiment, make work, embedded in this community, for our community.

Louise is working towards a fundraising goal of $50k to deliver the first festival program in October 2024. She needs investors, donors and key partnerships. Your ticket directly supports guest artists, and helps kickstart this new boutique festival.
